1) When plating low-stress film materials, the common coatings for gold-plated crystal vibrators are Al, Au, Ag and Cu. These films have almost no stress and can be coated at room temperature. The film is soft and easy to scratch, but it will not crack or have a negative effect on the substrate. It is recommended to use gold-plated crystal oscillator for the above coating. Experience has proved that gold-plated crystal oscillator can be plated with 60000 angstroms of gold and 50000 angstroms of silver.
2) Using silver plating or silver-aluminum alloy plating high-stress film layers Ni, Cr, Mo, Zr, Ni-Cr, Ti, stainless steel, these materials are easy to generate high stress, and the film layer is easy to peel off or crack from the crystal substrate, resulting in a sudden jump in rate or a series of sudden irregular positive and negative changes in rate. Sometimes, these conditions are tolerated, but in some cases, may have an adverse effect on the power control of the evaporation source.
3) MgF2, SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2 films are widely used in optical coating due to their good optical transparent area or refractive index characteristics. However, these films are also difficult to monitor. Only when the substrate temperature is greater than 200 degrees can these films have very good bonding force with the substrate. Therefore, when these films are plated on the water-cooled substrate crystal vibrating plate, in the film condensation process will produce a huge stress, easy to make the crystal vibration plate within 1000 angstroms back to failure. At this time, the selection of alloy crystal oscillator will be a better choice, will greatly reduce the FM opportunities. The laboratory showed that using the alloy crystal oscillator to monitor magnesium fluoride, the effective life is 100% longer than that of gold plated. If the temperature of the cooling water is increased from 20 degrees to 50 degrees, the life of the crystal vibration plate can be doubled.
